Recipe Nutrition Facts: Calories and Macros, Without Guessing

Olivi now shows the nutrition facts: calories, protein, carbs (including fibre and sugars), fat and sodium: at the bottom of every recipe, per serving. These numbers are calculated automatically from an official nutrient database of thousands of foods: they are never made up, they come from that reference cross-checked with your recipe’s quantities.

Numbers that come from an official database, not a guess

Most apps that show calories have them “estimated” by an artificial intelligence: at the risk of inventing plausible but wrong values. Olivi does the opposite.

For each ingredient in a recipe, Olive finds the matching food in an official nutrient database. The values are then calculated by simple arithmetic, based on quantities and the number of servings. The AI’s role is limited to picking the right food in the database: it produces no numbers.

On all your recipes, even the ones you scan

Nutrition facts appear automatically on catalogue recipes, on the ones you create or generate with Olive, and on the ones you scan from a book or a family notebook.

Adjust the number of servings: the per-serving values stay consistent, since they are recalculated from the actual quantities.

Why it’s reliable: when it’s not sure, nothing is shown

If a recipe contains ingredients too unusual to be matched with confidence, or if the quantities lead to implausible values, Olivi would rather show nothing than a doubtful number. It’s a deliberate choice: no data beats false data.

For information only: what it doesn’t replace

These values are provided for information only. They vary by brand, serving, substitution and preparation method, and matching an ingredient to the database can involve some imprecision.

They do not constitute medical, nutritional or dietary advice. For an allergy, an intolerance or a medical condition (diabetes, high blood pressure, a prescribed diet…), rely on product labels and consult a qualified health professional.

Show it or hide it

Nutrition facts are on by default. You can hide them everywhere in the app from Profile › Display preferences, then turn them back on whenever you like.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate a recipe’s calories?

Add up the calories of each ingredient by quantity (from a reliable nutrition database), then divide by the number of servings. Olivi does this automatically from an official nutrient database and shows the result per serving, without you counting.

Where do the nutrition values in Olivi come from?

From an official nutrient database of thousands of foods. The numbers are calculated from that database and your recipe’s quantities: they are not generated by an AI.

Do nutrition facts work on my own recipes?

Yes. They are calculated automatically on recipes you create, generate with Olive or scan, in addition to the catalogue.

Do these values replace a dietitian’s advice?

No. They are for information only and do not constitute medical or dietary advice. For a medical condition or allergy, consult a professional and rely on product labels.

Can I hide the nutrition facts?

Yes, from Profile › Display preferences. They are on by default.
