Sheet-Pan Honey-Garlic Salmon with Broccoli and Sesame
Glossy honey-soy salmon roasted alongside charred broccoli, finished with toasted sesame : sweet, savoury, and on the table in under 25 minutes.
Ingredients
- 4 pieces (150 g each) salmon fillets, skin-on
- 6 cups broccoli florets
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 3 stalks green onions, sliced
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a large sheet pan with parchment.
- 2
Whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic until the honey dissolves into a smooth glaze.
- 3
Toss the broccoli florets with 1 tbsp of the sesame oil and a pinch of salt, then spread them on one half of the sheet pan.
- 4
Roast the broccoli alone for 6 minutes, until the edges begin to char and crisp.
- 5
Pat the salmon fillets dry, brush generously with two-thirds of the glaze, and nestle them onto the empty side of the pan.
- 6
Return to the oven and roast for 9-11 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and reaches 125°F (52°C) at its thickest point.
- 7
Drizzle the remaining glaze over the hot salmon and broccoli so it sizzles and caramelizes on contact.
- 8
Scatter with sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and a final drizzle of the remaining sesame oil before serving.
Chef's tip
Pull the salmon a couple of degrees early : carryover heat will finish cooking it on the hot pan, keeping the centre silky and just-set rather than dry.
Suggested pairing
Serve over fluffy jasmine rice with a chilled off-dry Riesling or sparkling water with lime.
